Old Town Holiday Stroll in Albuquerque

Celebrate the Magic of the Holiday Season in Historic Old Town!

Friday, December 7, 2018 | 5-9 p.m. | Historic Old Town

Set the holiday season in motion with entertainment, dining, shopping, and more.

Shop local and get any and all holiday gifts in the variety of shops throughout Old Town. Purchase a Holiday Stroll Button at the event and enjoy discounts at participating stores. Proceeds from the buttons will benefit Beds 4 Kidz.

Lighting of the Tree | 6 p.m. | Plaza Don Luis

Sip hot chocolate and enjoy live entertainment in the plaza in anticipation for the annual lighting of Albuquerque’s largest Christmas Tree. KOB 4 will be broadcasting as Weatherman Steve Stucker hosts, live from Plaza Don Luis, located on Romero Street.

The tradition holds a special meaning for the Aceves family. 2017 marked the tree lighting ceremony’s silver anniversary, and the first since the passing of Henry Aceves, longtime Old Town business owner and the one who, along with his wife Karen, began the tree lighting community tradition.

Parking

Free parking is available at the lot on the corner of 18th St. and Bellamah Ave. (Map) Free shuttles, provided by Airport Parking, will take event-goers to several locations including Explora, The New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science and The Albuquerque Museum near Old Town Plaza.

Spur Line Supply Co. located at 800 20th St. NW, will have free parking. Parking lots and street parking is available in the surrounding area, please be sure to follow all parking laws.

Streets throughout Old Town will close to traffic starting at 3 p.m. to prepare for our big celebration. Please plan accordingly and arrive early.

Museums

In addition to the fun in Old Town, ExploraThe NM Museum of Natural History and Science and The Albuquerque Museum will be open, joining in the festivities with activities and entertainment for the evening. Enjoy free admission!

At Explora, teens can meet a local scientist and find out about their work and career in the FREE Teen Science Café from 5-7 p.m. Snacks and activity or demo included. Visitors of all ages can Make It, Take It DIY LED Mini Luminarias and Chromatography Snowflakes, take a photo on the high wire bike with holiday props and explore the exhibits. Take advantage of holiday discounts at Ideas, the Store at Explora!
