2019 Westside Summerfest - Opening Bands

For over two decades Todd Tijerina (Tee-her-ee-na) has played his fierce brand of cutting edge blues-rock in Chicago and the Southwest. Infusing funk, rock and jazz elements into his blues stylings, Todd has always attempted to be unique as a songwriter and guitarist. He travels around the country entertaining audiences with his band.

Hailing from the secret city of Los Alamos, NM, DK & The Affordables kick out a jiving, jumping variety of roots rock n’ roll music that is intended to get you moving and inspire good will amongst the generations. Gyrating, swinging bodies topped by smiling faces always accompany Affordables’ shows. Couple all of that with twangy guitar, a ripping rhythm section, greasy hair, and some pointy boots, and you’ve got yourself a hootenanny of a good time!

Son Como Son bills itself as Salsa Cuban Style. Founded in 1993 it is unquestionably one of Albuquerque’s longest-standing and most popular salsa ensembles, they play regularly to packed audiences comprising highly animated and dedicated, salseros at venues all over the southwest. They are directed by renowned trombonist, vocalist, percussionist, composer, and arranger César Bauvallet who moved from Havana, Cuba to Albuquerque in 1992. In addition to César, Son Como Son is comprised of some of Albuquerque’s most accomplished and busiest musicians.
