IMPORTANT NOTICE – PLEASE READ!

Happy New Year!

Well, not quite so happy.  I am sure you noticed that updates ended at the beginning of November.  The event calendar program by TIMELY was upgraded, but due to a lack of testing, the upgrade made the application susceptible to hackers.  In no time at all they abused the plug-in so severely, it took the whole server down, meaning this domain and many others.

There was one potential solution costing over $200, and since this site has no income, the money simply isn’t there to cover such costs.

This is a reminder to people who use sites like this, that the only revenue is from ads.  If you don’t click on the Amazon, Google, or Groupon links, the site makes no money.  That means the many hours put into the site, the domain name, and hosting are all at the expense of the webmaster.

If you use a site, you enjoy it, why not help that site continue?  Why isn’t anyone using our Amazon links to purchase products like many of you do, sometimes weekly or more often?  If you click on our Amazon banner, no matter what product it is you are going to buy, we potentially earn a little commission that has no effect on what you pay.  So why not take a few seconds to come here first, click on our link, and then make your purchase at Amazon.

Same with Groupon.  Groupon offers discounts for many products and services.  I personally use Groupon multiple times a year, but none of our users are taking advantage of the savings, or you aren’t clicking on our links to make the savings purchase.

I don’t know the future of this site.  I don’t know if TIMELY will fix the problem they caused or not.  I would hate the site to continue in this stagnant manner as it reflects poorly on me.

Doña Ana Arts Council’s 48th Annual Renaissance ArtsFaire

Doña Ana Arts Council’s 48th Annual Renaissance ArtsFaire

November 2 – 3, 2019

 Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and  Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Grab your family and friends, dress in your finest medieval garb, and join your fellow royalty at the Doña Ana Arts Council’s 48th Annual Renaissance ArtsFaire, Saturday and Sunday, November 2 and 3, at Young Park in Las Cruces. You’ll be part of the Elizabethan era. You find yourself surrounded by peasants and nobles of the kingdom enjoying a pleasant day at the faire, perusing arts and crafts, being astonished by magicians  gnawing on turkey legs, and cheering on jousters on horseback.

The 48th faire offers something for everyone, with fine art and handcrafted items created by artists from around the Southwest (not all related to the era you’re visiting that weekend), delicious food offered by and supporting area non-profit organizations, entertainment on several stages — including the return by popular demand of jousting on horseback, a beer and wine garden with local brews, and the rejuvenated Magellan the Dragon. The gates will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday.

This family-friendly event welcomes those who wish to dress in period costume as well as visitors who would rather stay true to 2019 while observing life as it was five centuries ago during the Renaissance period. There’s plenty for the wee ones to do with a special Children’s Realm featuring activities and entertainment, a scavenger hunt, petting zoo, and canoe rides offered as a fundraiser for the Boy Scouts where they can get up close to Magellan.

Did you ever want to dress up as a zombie and dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”? Did you ever think it would be fun to be listed in a world record?

What is “Thrill The World?”

Thrill The World is friends, families and other local residents who each year join together with thousands of other people around the globe to  break the World Record for the Largest Simultaneous Dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”!  More importantly, TTW is more than just dancing to a 6 minute song–

The broader goal is to unity among all the peoples of the world, humanitarianism and environmental stewardship..

WELCOME TO THRILL THE WORLD!

Funky Zombies all over the globe are already planning for Thrill The World 2014!   The event was founded in 2006 in Toronto, and has now spread to six continents!  Every October thousands of  people/zombies around the world come together  to honor the genius of Michael Jackson and raise funds for charity–oh! and to have fun, too!

How do we do it?

Every October, Funky Zombies across the world synchronize to  dance to “Thriller” at exactly the same time.  Preparation for the dance is part of the fun but the feeling of being connected to people thinking and doing the same thing at the same time, celebrating a true inspirational genius of Michael Jackson, is what keeps people coming back year after year.  Also, knowing what bad dancers Zombies are, it helps people indulge,  renew or even discover the joy of dance, without having any fear (what do I look like? Am I any good? ) Funky Zombies don’t do fear!!!

There are so many reasons for taking part in Thrill the World that we could go on,  and on!  Here are the basics of is how it works.

1. Volunteers sign up to be an Event Manager by registering with Thrill The World.

Then Zombies connect with their local event, learn the dance, hopefully help the Event Manager prepare and then participate on Thrill Day.

Raise Funds for Charity

Michael was all about giving back so each local event is free to choose the charity of their choice and raise funds. This can be done by requesting donations for example, at dance workshops, on your website, and on Thrill Day.

When?

We have decided to hold our event the weekend before Halloween.

How It Works

People in cities around the world dance to “Thriller” at exactly the same time.  Preparation and counting down worldwide is part of the fun but the feeling of being connected to others and dancing together as one is a Thrill like no other!  Celebrating the truly inspirational genius of Michael Jackson in a living and moving way — is what keeps people coming back year after year.

Participants

This dance is for EVERYBODY   – all nationalities, faiths, creeds and abilities. Whether you are  young or old,  a professional dancer,  or a complete beginner.   You can adjust the routine to your own level — work up a major sweat or just take it easy.     Dancing is a great way to achieve all round fitness and well-being, physically and mentally.  Taking part is all about achieving your best – as Michael continues to inspire the world to do.

Raise Funds for Charity

Michael was all about giving back so each local event is free to choose the charity of their choice and raise funds.  This can be done by requesting donations for example, at dance workshops, on your website, and on Thrill Day.

Learning the Dance

We all use the same choreography based on the music video.  We have detailed instructions developed by Thrill the World founder, Ines Markeljevic, who guides you through each step.  You’ll realize it’s surprisingly easy!!

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Any local will tell you that October is the most beautiful time of year in New Mexico, made so in large part by the much anticipated sight of colorful balloons punctuating the skyline. During this season, the sky is bluer, the days are gentler, and the mornings crisper — almost as though the landscape has taken a deep sigh — and on the desert’s warm breath sails the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta features many wonderful experiences!
In addition to the magical spectacle of balloons, we showcase some of the most talented performers of our day – most of them local New Mexicans – representing a myriad of styles and genres. We hope you’ll plan to attend Balloon Fiesta for each and every session to enjoy this line-up of world-class talent.
