ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The ABQ BioPark has two upcoming plant shows at the Botanic Garden.

The annual African Violet Show and Sale will take place from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. on August 19-20 at the Botanic Garden’s Heritage Farm. The event will feature African violets grown by members of the Albuquerque African Violet Club. Club members will show successful techniques for growing, maintaining and propagating these cheerful plants. Standard and mini African violets will be available for purchase.
“African violets are one of the most popular house plants around and bloom almost continually with proper care,” said Catherine Hubbard, ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden manager.
The Cactus and Succulent Society of New Mexico will have an exhibition of prize-winning plants along with some presentations and demonstrations during Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-4. Schedule for the Cactus and Succulent show will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Monday, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“Join us at the Botanic Garden to learn about the cold hardy plants that work well in Albuquerque landscapes,” said Hubbard.
Both events are included with regular admission to the Botanic Garden.
