It’s hard to find a person whose life has not been impacted in some way by cancer. Whether you are a survivor or part of a support and care system for a survivor or sufferer, cancer is a presence in nearly everyone’s life. After all, it has been called “The Emperor of all Maladies” for a reason.

But just as cancer never stops fighting and never tires, the people on the other side—doctors, educators, researchers, and fundraisers—never stop either.

That’s why, on September 14, UNM is kicking off its 3rd annual Lobo Cancer Challenge. The event is a run/walk/ride designed to raise funds for awareness of cancer treatment, research, clinical trials, and education for cancer healthcare professionals. “As the center’s premier fundraising and community outreach event, the Lobo Cancer Challenge helps to ensure that the people of New Mexico have access to outstanding cancer care and benefit from the latest cancer research in their home state,” says Rae Ann McMahan Paden, Associate Director of Government Relations and Community Affairs at the University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The event will include a 5K run/walk and also a 25-mile ride, a 50-mile ride, and a 100-mile ride.

Fighting cancer together:
The Lobo Cancer Challenge is a community fundraiser to help ensure access to world-class cancer care and treatments based on the most advanced cancer research right here in New Mexico. Every dollar raised by our Challengers goes to support cancer patient care, research, community outreach, or education and training at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center — because no one should have to face cancer alone.
