 In 2018 we hosted over 20,000 aliens in Roswell! We were so amazed! Our surveys indicated people from 43 states and 7 different countries. Countless media groups and live coverage network shows, and numerous printed stories.
In 2018 we had some exciting additions including the NASA Space Suit and Alien Autopsy. We are working hard on new additions in 2019 to make this festival even bigger and better than ever. Be sure to join almost 35,000 subscribers at the bottom of the page for updates!
We have only begun, so much of the information you see now will be from 2018. We are working on 2019, so be sure to check back periodically.
This year the Festival will be held July 5-7, 2019 – make plans to attend now! We encourage you to arrive a few days early to enjoy the City of Roswell July 4 Extravaganza. Many hotels are already filling up with reservations, so we recommend making reservations immediately!
The City of Roswell invites UFO enthusiasts and skeptics alike to join in the celebration of one of the most debated incidents in history. The three-day event will feature guest speakers, authors, live entertainment, a costume contest, parade, a pet costume contest, parade, family-friendly activities and more.
The majority of big events are free. These include the Free Movie, Pet and Human Costume Contests, Light Parade and so much more. No charge for alien hat making and crafts. Some of the vendors, the UFO Museum and the Roswell Planetarium charge nominal fees.
 Beware of the Altitude When Coming to Albuquerque
Watch a field of hot-air balloons at sunrise as they gracefully float up into the cool morning air of the Moreno Valley. Balloons Over Angel Fire is one of the few high-mountain hot-air balloon events in the country. Learn how the balloons work, talk to the pilots, take lots of pictures and spend Father’s Day weekend enjoying the laid-back pace of Angel Fire.
Saturday evening brings the spectacular balloon glow – when the pilots illuminate their balloons like enormous, colorful glowing bulbs. The valley floor transforms into a wonderland of fire, color and light.

The Brain Freeze Ice Cream Festival originated in Albuquerque, NM in 2018 as a fundraiser for the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network.
7,000 ice-cream lovers attended!
In addition to satisfying ice-cream lovers of all ages with unlimited ice-cream, the mission of the Brain Freeze Ice Cream Festival is to support organizations that provide aid and assistance to the community of families and individuals whose lives have been impacted by a disability, a special need, or a mental illness.
The festival serves as a fundraiser for local organizations who support individuals with Down syndrome, in addition to any organization, club, or team willing to come and scoop ice-cream at the festival.
The 2018 Albuquerque event, in addition raising money for the Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network, donated over $7,000 to 11 local charities, organizations, and kids sports clubs whose representatives volunteered their time to scoop ice-cream at the event.
We also provide free event space to any organization that provides support services to differently-abled individuals to help promote the organization’s services.
While great music fills the air, scoop stations come to life serving up 21 flavors of delicious, creamy, Blue Bell premium ice-cream.
The event is full of free activities for ice-cream lovers of all ages and we invite community businesses to take part and engage festival attendees in fun, creative ways.

Heights Summerfest

Join us as we kick-off the annual Summerfest series with Heights Summerfest. This free family-friendly event features fun for the whole family including an artisan market, microbrew garden, food trucks and live entertainment from local and national acts.

National Headliner – Dumpstaphunk
Dumpstaphunk stands out among New Orleans’ best as one of the funkiest bands to ever arise from the Crescent City. Born on the Jazz & Heritage Festival stage, and descended from Neville family bloodlines, these soldiers of funk ignite a deep, gritty groove that dares listeners not to move. Their performances combine ingenious musicianship and complex funk and jazz arrangements with soulful melodies that are simple enough for anyone to enjoy. Children’s Activities
The kids’ area is full of fun activities including free face painting, inflatable obstacle courses and a 25-foot rock climbing wall presented by the City of Albuquerque Parks & Recreation Department.

The Roswell Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that they will host the 31st Annual “Rise Over Roswell Balloon Rally,” formerly the “Old Timers Balloon Rally.” This family friendly event has been a great tradition that was started by Bill Glenn and a group of pilots who decided to have a rally featuring old timers, and the Roswell Chamber of Commerce wants to proudly continue this tradition.
They want all of Roswell and the surrounding areas to come out to the Cielo Grande Soccer Complex and enjoy these magnificent balloons, meet the pilots, and help them continue to make this a spectacular event that continues for another 31 years!
The event will start on Friday, May 3 with balloons launching at elementary schools in Roswell, followed by a balloon glow Friday night, and Sunrise Mass Ascensions Saturday and Sunday mornings. Balloons travel to Roswell from the Southwest for a weekend of fun flying and friendship. FREE Admission!!! The Roswell OldTimers Balloon Club plans to host the Oldtimers Balloon Rally in Roswell, New Mexico the first full weekend of May each year. Proceeds benefit local charities in Roswell.

In the past 36 years the Gathering of Nations has grown from an early, simple dream to one of the world’s most recognized annual festivals.
From the beginning the concept has always been to produce an event where Native people can come together each year to celebrate and share culture, and a place where singers and dancers can feel confident that competition is fair to all.
From those genuine and humble beginnings that the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow has evolved into the event you see today, as well as its role in many community outreach efforts. None of this could be have been accomplished without the loyalty and dedication of good volunteers, friends and family.
It was here at the Gathering of Nations that “powwow fever” has shed its warmth on such a wonderful lifestyle, and continues to be of great appeal and intrigue to young people interested in learning more about their own personal tribal traditions and the powwow way.
Flint Carney, a long time friend and member of the Kiowa tribe, who said, “The greatest thing about the Gathering of Nations is the respect that is shown to all Native people of the world.”
This is the way of powwow life and teachings, which are provided and handed down from the elders to the younger generations. The Gathering of Nations experience does not end when you leave and head for home, but rather continues in your heart and mind, remains with you down the road to the next event, powwow or your own personal family gathering(s).
Many people from around the world have made the Gathering of Nations Powwow their travel destination. The Gathering of Nations has grown to become more than just a “Powwow”, it’s an experience!

We are very excited to introduce the very first Valencia County Earth Day Science Fiesta coming up on April 27th. Come down to Whitfield to experience over 20 different participants from 5 different regions with free hands on learning for the whole family. This is a great opportunity to learn about The Rio Grande, internship opportunities, trains, the sun, renewable energy, multiple tourism sites in and around Valencia County, animal habitats, Prehistorical Native American technology, planting, growing and germinating your own seeds, how to make wind chimes out of household materials, wild fire prevention including a real fire truck and a 25 foot hot air balloon!
While learning, don’t forget to also come and enjoy music, food, and a nature walk around Whitfield!
